FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Stories Worth Telling” writing workshops provide instruction and publishing tips for beginner and intermediate writers

Bozeman, MT – Local ghostwriter and coauthor Anika Hanisch will help beginner and intermediate writers hone their craft through informative lessons, group discussion, and hands-on writing exercises during her workshop series in November.  Students will also have the opportunity to submit short excerpts of their work to receive personalized feedback on their book project or essay series.

“My niche is coaching new memoir writers,” Hanisch said.  “But the November workshops are valuable for fiction writers as well. Several of my current students and coaching clients have branched out into fiction; I’m excited to reach out to more fiction writers this year.”

The November 2 session is geared toward beginners in any genre, covering the logistics of book craft as well as tips for keeping the creative well filled.  On November 16, Hanisch will discuss the sometimes hard-to-discern line between memoir and fiction.  “Readers expect memoir to read like a novel–with a polished feel and attention to pacing,” Hanisch said.  “But memoir writers also have an ethical obligation to stay true to their memory of key events.  It really is possible to balance the two.  You can write a beautifully crafted story that is honest.”

The “Fiction Techniques” workshop will be useful for both literary non-fiction writers and fiction writers.  “The techniques apply in both worlds,” Hanisch said.  “Beginner fiction writers would get a lot out of that session as well.”

Both Sunday afternoon workshops run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. and meet at Congregation Beth Shalom; 2010 West Koch, in Bozeman.  Advanced registration is required and due by October 23; after the 23rd call 406.581.9405 for availability.
