Bozeman/Belgrade, MT – Local ghostwriter and coauthor Anika Hanisch will provide tips on the book-writing process for both beginner and intermediate writers during a workshop on October 18, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at her new Belgrade location. This Sunday afternoon session, “Stories Worth Telling: Elements of Story-Craft,” is open to both memoir and fiction writers.
“There are so many new writers who have a striking voice straight out of the blocks, but they run into trouble with assembling individual scenes into a coherent whole,” Hanisch said. “Whether it’s memoir or fiction, I see a lot of frustration with overall structure and pacing, how to use dialogue effectively, and when to use vivid sensory detail.”
The October workshop will define and demystify literary techniques that published authors use to create page-turning stories. It will show new writers how to take fragmented first draft material and weave it into a flowing, well-structured story. Students will have the opportunity to submit short excerpts of their work in advance to receive personalized instruction during the workshop.
This session costs $68.00 and meets at the writer’s residence at 707 Montana Street in Belgrade. Other sessions in November will meet at Bozeman locations. Registration form for all events available here, or call 406.581.9405 with questions.
